At C1, it's all about your future. Our caring and experienced staff is focused on making America’s highways safe. We’re committed to providing the highest quality CDL training with an emphasis on safe driving techniques.
Our Indianapolis training center is one of the largest CDL training schools in the United States. The CDL training course at the Indianapolis campus is designed to maximize the time each student spends behind the wheel. The course begins with a CDL permit study session and permit testing. The training then moves into both classroom instruction and behind the wheel time. The classroom portion will include lectures and presentations covering a wide range of topics. Educating safe truck drivers is C1’s goal, so students will be instructed on proper logging routines, trip planning & map reading, hazardous materials regulations, accident prevention, and safety and mechanical issues. In addition to the classroom instruction, students will apply the techniques explained in the classroom to the driving range and street exercises. Every student will practice all the skills necessary to safely operate a tractor trailer.
The driving skills emphasized at our Indianapolis training campus include:
• Shifting techniques
• Coupling/uncoupling the trailer
• Backing skills
• Left and right turn techniques
• Pre-trip inspection of the truck
The instructors will emphasize the skills required to pass the CDL skills test at the end of the training program.
The CDL skills test will be administered by a state-certified CDL examiner using equipment similar to that used during training.
