CDL Driver Earnings Continue To Increase

Many people from different walks of life have found a career in trucking to be one of the most rewarding decisions of lives. The trucking industry is enormous and employs over 3.2 million truck drivers alone. And opportunities for drivers are expanding at a record pace. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the opportunities and needs for truck drivers is expected to grow annually between 9 and 14% through at least 2014. The American Trucking Association (ATA) estimates that “the long-haul, heavy-duty truck transportation industry in the United States currently is experiencing a national shortage of 20,000 truck drivers. That shortage of long-haul truck drivers could increase to 111,000 by 2014 if current demographic trends stay their course and if the overall labor force continues to grow at a slower pace.”
