Truck Driver Training & The Professional Truck Driver
C1 Truck Driver Training™ was founded on the principle that a truck driving career is more than a job, it’s a profession worthy of respect. Becoming a truck driver should start with choosing the right truck driving school. Not all truck driving training programs are created equal. Yes, a driver needs a CDL, but to be a successful professional truck driver requires the right driver training with a commitment to quality. That's a commitment found at all 5 of our truck driving schools.
The C1 Mission Statement:
To improve the image of transportation and exceed our customer's expectations by safely, professionally, and compassionately training the next generation of America's professional truck drivers, providing them with a life skill that will enhance their quality of life.
The Authority In CDL Training
“To provide the highest quality training for CDL” – that was the goal set by C1 Truck Driver Training’s founder & owner Chris Welch. As a young project manager for Cummins Engine, Mr. Welch saw the dire need of trucking companies to find well-trained, qualified truck drivers. Since 1987, C1 has been providing that high quality training for truck drivers and the nation’s most reputable trucking companies. The trucking school’s roots trace back to the leader in diesel engines, the Cummins Engine Co. Back then, Cummins executives recognized the biggest problem that their diesel engine customer’s faced was a lack of qualified, well-trained truck drivers. So the engine maker set up a subsidiary to help solve the truck driver shortage.
Cummins Professional Training Center, as the truck driving school was originally known, was founded to help ease the driver shortage. In 2000, the trucking school adopted the name C1 Truck Driver Training™ to better reflect our commitment to CDL driver training. Since then, C1 has grown and expanded and now offers Class A CDL training at five regional schools located in 4 states. Our knowledge and expertise in training new truck drivers draws students from across the country to our truck driving schools. Just more proof that C1 is the authority in truck driver training and why we call C1 "America's Truck Driving School."
