Class A ELDT Training for CDL

Looking for Class A ELDT CDL Training?

The first step to getting a class A CDL has changed as of February 7, 2022. There are now Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements that must be met in order to satisfy the minimum standards as set forth by the FMCSA. C1 Truck Driver Training provides the required ELDT curriculum for Class A CDL training.

How Class A ELDT CDL Training Works

FMCSA has established minimum training standards for individuals applying for their Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) for the first time. These individuals are subject to the entry-level driver training (ELDT) requirements. Applicants must complete a prescribed program of instruction provided by an approved training provider listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR). This course is intended to meet all theory (knowledge) requirements listed in the federal regulation 49 CFR Part 380, Special Training Requirements.

Individuals who obtain a commercial learner's permit (CLP) on or after February 7, 2022, will need to complete this course before they are permitted to take their CDL skills Test. Upon course completion, the results will be submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry. Before providing any testing services, CDL Testing centers will retrieve these results from the FMCSA Training Provider Registry to confirm that the student has completed the course.

Sections covered in the course are:

  • Basic Operation
  • Safe Operating Procedures
  • Advanced Operating Practices
  • Vehicle Systems & Reporting Malfunctions
  • Non-Driving Activities
